Tim Crompton


Tim is a graduate of the Birmingham Conservatoire where he studied bassoon, organ and recorder. He has been teaching music for 33 years, first in the Midlands and now at Trinity School, Teignmouth.

Tim has been the Musical Director of Shaldon `singers since 2019.. Having steered the choir through lockdown Zooms, live rehearsals restarted under his baton in September 2021. With Tim at the helm, choir members have increased and the singers have gained in confidence.

Much of Tim's musical directing experience has been and continues to be in musical theatre. He has been MD for many shows including High School Musical, Annie and Matilda. Tim is increasingly in demand as an organist and plays for services at Stoke, Coombe and in St Peter's Shaldon. He still finds time to play bassoon and contrabassoon for several local orchestras in Exeter and South Devon and can often be found on the back beach with his labrador!

Anna studied at the Birmingham School of Music (now known as the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) - piano with Malcolm Wilson, violin with Barbara Seeley, and chamber music with Nona Liddell. She teaches violin, viola and piano and plays in the Devon Telemann Ensemble, the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, lead the orchestra for the Exeter Bach Choir, South Devon Choir and North Creedy Choral Society, and plays in the Beacon Piano Trio, and as many other ensembles as she can fit in!
